Have you ever seen those beautiful paper lanterns that float through the sky like mini hot air balloons? These sky lanterns are very popular in Thailand, and Steve knows how much I want to send my very own lantern up before we leave the country. With our departure for India only 12 days away, Steve attempted a home made lantern to surprise me with.

Steve doesn’t have a good feeling about this!
Sadly, it did not go as planned. A slight miscalculation with the weight of the fire led to the lantern being too heavy to float, and instead it burned our fingers when it caught fire on the beach.

Despite the failure to launch, it was a lovely surprise–and the sunset wasn’t bad either.
